UCP of Central Ohio was awarded a $38,920 grant from the Osteopathic
Heritage Foundation (the Foundation). This award will fund restroom
improvements that will positively impact the personal care of people
with disabilities and aging conditions who use the restrooms, improve
the environment by decreasing odors and bacteria in the air, and
improve working conditions for the staff.
Currently the restrooms meet the minimum standards of the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA), but the restroom modifications will exceed
those standards, increasing the overall safety and comfort of this
vulnerable population. By December of 2010, UCP’s women’s and men’s ADA
restrooms will be equipped with an HVAC system for heating and cooling
capabilities and commercial-grade exhaust fans will replace the current
fans for proper ventilation. This improvement will promote air
circulation and decrease bathroom odors, and make it possible to
maintain a comfortable room temperature. Additionally, the floors of
the restrooms will be replaced.
UCP of Central Ohio would like to thank the Osteopathic Heritage
Foundation for their generous support!
