Accessibility Statement

This is the official accessibility statement for the UCP of Central Ohio Web site. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us. This policy applies only to Web pages on the UCP of Central Ohio Web site (i.e. URLs starting http://www.ucpofcentralohio.org) that make use of standard templates (i.e. pages that have the same structure, navigation and design as this one).

Access keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the Web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key.

All pages on this site use the following access keys for common tasks:

  • Access key 1 : Home page
  • Access key 2 : Skip to content
  • Access key 3 : Site Search

  2. All pages on this site should validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional.
  3. All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. h1 tags are used for main titles, h2 tags for subtitles (and so on).

Images

  1. All content images used in this site should include descriptive alt tags. Purely decorative graphics include null alt tags.
  2. Complex images may include longdesc tags or inline descriptions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers.

Macromedia Flash

UCP of Central Ohio uses Macromedia Flash for some interactive resources. Consequently you must have Macromedia Flash Player 6 (or higher) installed - this can be obtained from the Macromedia Web site. UCP of Central Ohio resources require Flash Player 6 as older versions of the player do not support a sufficient range of accessibility features. The interactive Macromedia Flash resources developed by UCP of Central Ohio are designed to work both with and without the use of a mouse and be compatible with as many assistive technologies as possible. Where Flash resources are used instruction on their use are also provided, in addition the Flash files contain information accessible by screen readers which further outline features implemented within the files that allow them to be used in conjunction with assistive technologies.

In addition, if you cannot view the interactive resources for whatever reason a static annotated image will appear instead, if you cannot view the static image it will be replaced by some descriptive text instead.
Adobe PDF files. Adobe PDF files are used extensively on this Web site. To facilitate use with assistive technologies, they have been created as tagged Adobe Acrobat 5 files. Altenatively, you can use Adobe's online PDF to HTML converter to view the files as web pages.

Visual design

  1. This site uses primarily uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.
  2. This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers. If you need to change the "text size" in your Web browser instructions are available.
  3. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page should still be readable.
