United Cerebral Palsy of Central Ohio is a private, non-profit agency whose mission is to provide an environment where people with disabilities and aging conditions receive individualized programs and support services.
UCP of Central Ohio was awarded a $38,920 grant from the Osteopathic
Heritage Foundation (the Foundation). This award will fund restroom
improvements that will positively impact the personal care of people
with disabilities and aging conditions who use the restrooms, improve
the environment by decreasing odors and bacteria in the air, and
improve working conditions for the staff.
The Fresh A.I.R. Gallery in Columbus invites you to experience A Day in
the Life of Charlottesville featuring original artwork by UCP of
Central Ohio artist Charlotte McGraw. The exhibit will run through
March 5th at 131 N. High Street in Columbus. Gallery hours are
8am-5:30pm Monday-Friday.
The Ohio Governor's Council on People with Disabilities (GCPD) is proud
to announce that the 12th Annual Ohio Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) will
be held in Columbus, Ohio from July 19-22, 2010 at the Embassy Suites
Airport Hotel in Columbus, Ohio.
The Ohio Youth Leadership Forum empowers students with disabilities
with leadership and advocacy skills. All high school juniors and
seniors who have a disability are invited to apply for this exciting,
interesting and empowering forum. The application deadline is
February

Did you receive a new electronic device replacing an old one this
holiday season? You can recycle it to benefit UCP! The Recycle for UCP
program by BCS Recycling Specialists provides free collection boxes to
affiliates and the public for electronic waste (e-waste) recycling of
cell phones, PDAs, iPods, digital cameras and inkjet cartridges. For
laptops, you can order a pre-paid FedEx label from www.scrapdr.com. Recycling is a
wonderful way to empower UCP to further serve communities by offering a
responsible way to handle e-waste.
UCP of Central Ohio plans to attend the annual Developmental
Disabilities Awareness Month Kickoff event on March 4, 2010, 10 a.m. –
noon in the Ohio Statehouse atrium. This high-energy event is an annual
opportunity for organizations within Ohio's developmental disabilities
community to raise public awareness of the many abilities that people
with disabilities have. The 2009 theme, "Just Like You" continues in
2010, and focuses on peoples' similarities rather than differences,
encouraging everyone to welcome people with disabilities into their
communities.
Heartland Bank recently donated $715.00 to UCP of Central Ohio with monies raised at their Holiday Silent Auction. This gift will help UCP continue to provide programming and support services for people with disabilities and aging conditions in Central Ohio. UCP would like to thank Heartland Bank and Branch Manager, Herb Thorndal for their generous support.
Make plans to join the Reese Adult Day Center for the 9th Annual Taste
of Italy on Thursday, February 4, 2010. Join us to celebrate the Reese
Adult Day Center’s 10th Anniversary! The event is from 5:00 p.m. to
7:30 p.m. at the Reese Adult Day Center, 123 South Third St. in Newark.
The proceeds from this event will support programs and services for
older adults with aging conditions and people with disabilities in
Licking County. Tickets are $20.00 each
