United Cerebral Palsy of Central Ohio is a private, non-profit agency whose mission is to provide an environment where people with disabilities and aging conditions receive individualized programs and support services.
UCP of Central Ohio was awarded a $1,500 grant through the Franklin
County Neighborhood Arts Program at the Greater Columbus Arts Council
(GCAC). This award will fund the A Seat on the Wild Side
project, a collaboration between UCP of Central Ohio, Worthington
Christian High School, and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
The Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter is providing free one-on-one care consultation to residents in Franklin County and the surrounding area who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Professionals will be available by appointment to answer questions about the disease, assist with linkage to community resources, help create long-term plans and offer caregiver support.
UCP of Central Ohio artist Charlotte M. was recently awarded a $350.00
grant from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) through the Individual Artist
Grant Program. This grant award will assist Charlotte with taking her
artistic creations to the next level. The monies will be used to
purchase a home computer so that Charlotte can research ideas and print
images to incorporate into her artwork.
On Sunday, November 22, 2009, thirteen Ohio State University students
from the Alpha Tau Zeta (ATZ) chapter of FarmHouse fraternity donated
their time and talents to UCP of Central Ohio. The men spent the day
painting space in the agency that is utilized during UCP Summer Camp.
Another portion of the space is designed to be a mock hotel room,
providing an area for job skills training for the Careers Unlimited
program.

UCP of Central Ohio is excited to announce that we have started an
electronic waste recycling program. By partnering with BCS Recycling,
we are able to give Central Ohio Companies and their employees the
ability to discard used Inkjet
Cartridges, Cell Phones, PDAs, iPods,
Digital Cameras and Laptop Computers. BCS is a 100%
landfill-free
recycler.
Ohio-UCP of Central Ohio would like to express appreciation and
heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers of our participants. UCP will
celebrate National Caregivers Month in November with a “Caregivers
Light Up Our Lives” ceremony on Thursday, November 17, 2009. The high
point of the ceremony will be the naming of four winners of the
“Caregiver of the Year” award.

recipients, friends, family, UCP staff, and community advocates.One award winner will be selected from each
of three care recipient age categories:
