During MRDD Awareness Month, UCP
encourages people to consider the true meaning of this year’s theme,
“Just Like
You.” MRDD Awareness Month is meant to
encourage people to bring diversity in to their community by welcoming
people
with disabilities.
UCP of Central Ohio
supports people with disabilities having full access in the community
through
employment, education, housing, and social opportunities. UCP will kick off MRDD
Awareness

United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Central Ohio was honored with a Star Award for Community Organizations at the Community Star Awards Banquet in an evening dinner reception at Villa Milano on October 29, 2008. This award is presented by the Franklin County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (FCBMRDD) to honor individuals and organizations that help fulfill their mission. United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Central Ohio recently furnished a Snoezelen Room, also known as a Multi-Sensory Room, with funds awarded from the Reinberger Foundation and the Harry C. Moores Foundation. This room enhances the lives of UCP’s participants by providing an environment that allows people with disabilities and aging conditions to experience autonomous discovery and exploration – achievements that overcome inhibitions, enhance self-esteem and reduce tension.
Would you like to support UCP but first want to learn more about how our organization helps people with disabilities and aging conditions? If so, the Columbus Foundation has made it easy for donors to connect with the causes they care about through a new program called PowerPhilanthropy.
UCP of Central Ohio has rental space available beginning in October 2008. The space is located within our facility on the Westside of Columbus and includes two offices, one large meeting/conference or program area, a reception area and unisex bathroom.
